SHEBOYGAN — Sheboygan County Reads!, the non-profit organization which promotes the love of books and reading among local young people, kicks off the three-day 2018 Sheboygan Children and Teen’s Book Festival on Friday, October 12th.
The festival continues through Sunday, October 14th.
The book festival features 17 national and regional authors and illustrators of books for children and teens. Included on the slate are: Gordon Korman (WhatsHisFace; Supergifted), Grace Lin (Where the Mountain Meets the Moon; Ling & Ting series), Jon Agee (It’s Only Stanley; The Wall in the Middle of the Book), Angela Dominguez (Stella Diaz Has Something to Say; Mango, Abuella, and Me), and Wisconsin authors Baptiste Paul (The Field), Lora Hyler (The Stupendous Adventures of Mighty Marty Hayes), Michael Leannah (Most People) and Janet Halfmann (Midnight Teacher: Lilly Ann Granderson and Her Secret School.)
The festival is free and open to the public and offers more than 60 free events at four beautiful locations around Sheboygan. The four locations are: The John Michael Kohler Arts Center, the Mead Public Library, Bookworm Gardens, and Above & Beyond Children’s Museum.
Special events and activities during the three-day festival include a Friday Bedtime Concert and Sing-along with Justin Roberts, collectible author/illustrator trading cards, Creative Play with the Dare to Dream Theatre for the Very Young, How a Picture Book is Made interactive exhibit, a nonfiction writing workshop for teens and adults, art-making with illustrators, costumed book characters, and much more!
