SHEBOYGAN — After 45 years with the Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office, dispatcher Wendy Jones retired on Wednesday.
Jones was hired in May of 1973 by Sheriff Ernest Heidenreiter just a few weeks before graduating from high school. She was 17 on the day she was hired but turned 18 just a couple weeks later. “My understanding is that she started in a secretarial position but moved into a dispatcher position shortly after being hired,” said Inspector Jim Risseeuw.
She received numerous awards during her 45 year career, including an Award of Excellence in 1991, 1998, 2003, 2008 and 2015. Commendation award in 1992 and a Life Saving award in 2014.
