CLEVELAND — A search is underway for a possible drowning victim in Lake Michigan.
At 6:37 PM on Tuesday, May 1st, the Manitowoc County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a person in the water who appeared to be in distress. Witnesses said they saw the person go under water without resurfacing. An unoccupied vehicle was located in the parking lot of Hika Bay Park boat launch.
The preliminary investigation suggests the registered vehicle owner may be the victim.
First responders searched the area for the victim but were unable to locate any signs of the victim after six hours of searching. The search is continuing Wednesday with the assistance of the U.S. Coast Guard and the Manitowoc County SCUBA Team.
