SHEBOYGAN — Dozens of young Boys & Girls Club members, hundreds of supporters, and one very special emcee gathered at the American Club in Kohler for the 7th Annual Leadership Award Banquet last week.
Honoring local leaders who’ve made a substantial impact on young people, the Banquet is the largest annual fundraising event for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Sheboygan County.
Hosted by Mason Crosby, kicker for the Green Bay Packers, this year’s event honored three individuals for their significant contributions:
- Ward Torke, owner of Torke Coffee Roasters, received the Lifetime Leadership Award for his longstanding commitment to young people, both here in Sheboygan County and beyond.
- Dr. Bill Trager has treated thousands of children in his pediatrics practice over the past 32 years and was honored with the Impact Leadership Award.
- Seth Harvatine received the Emerging Leadership Award. As incoming Superintendent of the Sheboygan Area School District, Harvatine will serve more than 10,000 area students.
“The Sheboygan area is fortunate to have such dedicated individuals working on behalf of our kids,” said Christina Singh, member of the BGCSC Board of Directors and Chair of the event. “The leaders we celebrated on Tuesday evening have made an indelible impact on countless young lives.”
This year’s event was the organization’s most successful Leadership Award Banquet yet, raising more than $100,000 in net proceeds. “We’re truly humbled by the generosity of our attendees and of this community,” Robert O’Hara, Executive Director of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Sheboygan County said. “The funds raised will directly support programs at all five of our locations in Sheboygan County. As a result of this year’s Leadership Award Banquet, more than 150 kids will spend the next year experiencing all our Clubs have to offer.”
