PLYMOUTH — A 30-year-old man is accused of breaking into his ex-girlfriend’s home and covering her mouth.
Casey Aaron Gudex, of Kiel, was charged last week with felony first-degree recklessly endangering safety, felony burglary of a dwelling, felony intimidation of a victim, misdemeanor battery and misdemeanor criminal trespass. Court Commissioner Ryan O’Rourke set bail at $50,000 which Gudex signed. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday, May 2nd.
According to the criminal complaint, at approximately 1:57 AM on Friday, April 20th, police were dispatched to a residence located on Aspen Lane in the City of Plymouth for a report of Gudex entering the home of his ex-girlfriend and attempting to kill her.
An officer spoke with the victim who said that she and Gudex had been in a relationship but had broken up. Gudex had been at the home the previous evening to collect some of his belongings. During that time, the victim fell asleep on a chair and woke up a few hours later at which point she saw that Gudex was still at the residence. She told Gudex to leave and she locked the door after Gudex left.
The victim told police she woke up to a hand covering her mouth. According to the criminal complaint, the victim said the unknown individual, who was later identified as Gudex, had a mask over his face. The victim said she knew it was Gudex because of his breathing and because her dogs, which are familiar with Gudex, did not react to the individual. The victim said Gudex had a knife in his right hand.
A struggle ensued and the victim was cut on her left forearm and her finger.
The victim attempted to grab her cell phone, but Gudex hit it out of her hand and attempted to choke her according to the criminal complaint. The victim told police she was screaming during the struggle, and said that Gudex “snapped out of what he was doing,” got off of her, and ran into her bathroom. Gudex then sat in her bathtub and reportedly held a knife to his chest in an attempt to harm himself.
When questioned by police, Gudex admitted to being in the residence that evening. Gudex, however, said he did not remember how he got into the residence. He said that he “woke up” to the victim telling him to stop, at which point he went into her bathroom.
