SHEBOYGAN — A 48-year-old Sheboygan man was arrested after a daytime residential burglary on the city’s south side last Monday.
Kevin P. Yurk, who resides at 3031 Main Avenue in Sheboygan, was charged with felony burglary of a building or dwelling, repeater. If convicted, Yurk faces up to 12 years in prison.
According to the criminal complaint, a neighbor observed a man wearing a plaid blue jacket and a green hoodie that had used a pry bar to force open the back door of a home in the 1000 block of Clara Avenue. The neighbor saw the man, later identified as Yurk, knock at the door and when no one answered, Yurk pulled something from his pant leg or boot and was then using that object to pry open the door.
The neighbor told police that Yurk used some force and pushed the door open. Yurk then went inside and came out a little while later. Police had observed that the back patio door for residence was standing open. An officer saw damage to the door frame, near the deadbolt, and that the door had obviously been forced open.
Police went inside and announced their presence. Officers could see that items had been gone through in the residence. There was a desk drawer that was pulled out and almost falling to the ground. There was a jewelry box on the top of the desk that was open and the insert was laying out on the desk.
