TOWN OF RHINE — Firefighters were called to a home early Tuesday morning in northern Sheboygan County.
The Elkhart Lake Fire Department was called around midnight to W5533 County Road EH in the Town of Rhine for a report of smoke visible in the home and flames coming from the chimney.
The extent of damage to the residence is unknown according to Sgt. Randy Haag of the Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office. “This was considered a successful fire fight as the home was saved and the damage minimized,” said Captain Keith Fisher of the Elkhart Lake Fire Department.
Due to icy conditions, one firefighter fell and sustained minor injuries. No other injuries were reported on scene.
Fire departments from Glenbeulah, Greenbush, Kiel, Ada, St. Anna, New Holstein, Plymouth, Haven, Waldo, Howards Grove responded to assist the Elkhart Lake Fire Department.
The home is owned by Curtis and Kelly Lentz.
