The show is packed with exciting new ideas and trends for your home building or remodeling projects. Shop and plan for your construction projects, all under one roof. Industry exhibitors will be on hand to assist you in your search for any project. “We are incorporating a few things to this year’s show that will really spice things up,” said Shelly Freis, Home Expo Committee Chair. “With the building industry on such a high, this is the year for your building and remodeling projects.”
They are very excited to announce that new this year as a way to reach out to students interested in the skilled trades industry, a design and build contest where participating high schools throughout Sheboygan County will construct an Adirondack chair to be judged and raffled off at the Home Expo.
The competition is open to all public high schools throughout Sheboygan County, including: Cedar Grove, Elkhart Lake/Glenbeulah, Oostburg, Plymouth, Random Lake, Sheboygan Falls, Sheboygan North, and Sheboygan South. Each school will design and construct their entry into the contest. Winners will be judged by the Education Committee of the SCHBA based on quality of workmanship, fit and finish, design creativity, comfort and the chairs design to build ratio.
Additional new features at the show this year include food demonstrations and appearances by Mad Dog and Merrill, and a beer garden serving beverages (sponsored by Larry’s Distributing). Kids can build a free birdhouse at the kids’ workshop with Plymouth Area high school students helping out. Back by popular demand, the Easter Bunny will be making an appearance Saturday afternoon. We also will continue to have the electronic drop site on Saturday from 11am-3pm allowing you to dispose of your unwanted items safely.

“I am beyond excited for this year’s 35th Annual Home Expo event as we have so many new activities to view or experience,” said Krisi Kaiser the Executive Director of the Association. “First being the building competition with high schools throughout Sheboygan County. Our Education Committee has put so much hard work into this project to get it rolling and off the ground. This is our first year doing this, so there might be some kinks to iron out, but it’s a great opportunity for all these students from local area high schools to experience the skill trades industry.”
SCHBA is collecting again for the Salvation Army House of Food. Help build a hunger free community by bringing your nonperishable food items or paper products ahead of time to the drop off site at 637 Walton Drive in Plymouth, or when visiting the show.
The economy is improving and with interest rates still at record lows, the expo will be the place to shop for/help with your spring projects. If you need to replace a furnace, finance an addition, install new windows, replace your appliances or upgrade the bathroom in your existing home, there will be numerous exhibitors to answer any questions you might have. Even if you are only thinking of cosmetic changes such as new carpeting or furniture, you can find samples at the show as well.
