SHEBOYGAN — Firefighters were called to Lakeland University for a water pipe break Sunday night.
The Ada Fire Department was called to the Lakeland University campus, located west of the Village of Howards Grove, around 8:50 PM on Sunday, January 7th for a report of a water pipe break inside the book store.
A portion of South Hall at Lakeland University sustained damage as a result of the break. “A pipe within the sprinkler system had frozen last week, and with Sunday’s warmer temperatures it thawed and the leak occurred,” said David Gallianetti, Communications Director at the university. “The majority of the water inside South Hall was on the floor of Lakeland’s Campus Shop.”
Most of the water leaked into the attic space and went outside the building. Financial estimates of the damage will be determined at a later date following further inspection.
Spring semester starts January 22nd and most students are not back on campus yet.
