Town of Wilson residents receive postcard about “tax spending town board”

Town of Wilson postcard

TOWN OF WILSON — Residents in the Town of Wilson reported receiving a postcard complaining about the Town Board this week from an anonymous person.

MySheboygan.com has obtained a copy of the postcard that starts begins with, “You got that nice big fat tax increase from our town board for Christmas, with more to come down the road.” The author of the postcard is apparently referring to the town’s legal fight with the City of Sheboygan over annexing land in order to build a Kohler Co. golf course along South 12th Street on the lakefront.

According to Mary Faydash of Friends of the Black River Forest, the $40 increase in taxes was a result of residents voting for waste collection service, not the legal battle over annexation. Faydash said in a statement that she does not know who sent the postcard.

The postcard goes on to say the Town Board “dragged their feet for the golf course to proceed. Kohler did what they had to do.” The anonymous writer adds, “Now we lose thousands of property tax dollars from the golf course and all annexed properties.”

Town Supervisor Nancy DesJardins could not be reached for comment.
