Sheboygan Police investigates south side shooting

SHEBOYGAN – A man was injured Monday morning after he shot himself.

Shortly before 11:30 AM on Monday, October 9th, paramedics and officers responded to 925 High Avenue on Sheboygan’s south side for a report of a shooting. The investigation revealed that a 29-year-old man was attempting to clean his 9-mm handgun.

During the cleaning process, the victim pointed the gun towards the ground to clear the action and accidentally discharged it, striking himself in the right ankle according to the Sheboygan Police Department.

The victim was transported to Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. The Sheboygan Police Department will not be seeking any criminal charges in connection with the incident.
