Workshop series for starting a business to be offered in Sheboygan

SHEBOYGAN — A new business planning workshop series is being offered to aid start-up and existing entrepreneurs in the Sheboygan County and surrounding areas this fall.

It’s frequently said that most small businesses fail in the first year. These classes will help participants identify the steps to take and how to test an idea and plan for their business.

The first workshop “What you Need to Know to Start a Business” will be held on Tuesday, September 26th at Lakeshore Technical College, located at 3620 Wilgus Avenue in Sheboygan. This class will explore what it takes to start a business, the personality and skills set needed, as well as the importance of planning for the business.

On Tuesday, October 10th, the three-part series for completing a business plan will be launched. During the three sessions, the complete business planning process will be reviewed and participants will be encouraged to finalize a solid business plan. The format includes lectures, discussions and breakout sessions, along with “hands on” coaching during the workshops. Mentors will continue one-on-one coaching between and after workshops until completion of each participant’s business plan.

The three-part series begins on October 10th, followed by Tuesday, October 24th, and Tuesday, November 14th.

All classes are offered at Lakeshore Technical College in Sheboygan and will run from 6-9 PM with doors opening at 5:30 PM. There is fee of $35 for each session and $20 for a second attendee. Registration is available at www.sewisconsin.score.org.

“This series will help entrepreneurs understand the crucial components of starting a business,” says Jim Injeski, SCORE Southeast Wisconsin Chapter chair. “Our goal is to help our community grow. Helping small business owners test their ideas and complete some initial planning for their start-up is essential to achieving success,” he adds.
