City of Sheboygan provides update on road projects

SHEBOYGAN — The City of Sheboygan’s 2017 Resurfacing Program is progressing and is in full construction mode.

The streets which are currently under construction are: Ashland Avenue from South 10th and 17th streets, North 12th Street from Superior to Geele, and North 10th Street from Superior to Geele. All three of these streets should be completed by the end of July, weather permitting according to the Department of Public Works.

Construction will begin in the next several weeks on the remaining streets associated with the 2017 Resurfacing Program. Completion is expected in mid-September, weather permitting. These remaining streets are South 9th Street from Georgia to High Avenue, Georgia Avenue from South Business Drive to South 24 th Street, Camelot Boulevard from South 18th Street to South Business Drive and Broughton Drive from North 3rd Street to North Point Drive.

All of the utility work has been completed on Ashland Avenue between South 10th Street and South 17th Street. All sidewalk and curb ramps at the intersections will be completed in early July. Any curb and gutter replacement will be completed by mid-July with asphalt paving being completed by Public Works crews by the end of July.

All of the utility work has been completed on North 10th Street between Superior Avenue and Geele Avenue. Curb and gutter removal and replacement started the week of July 3rd and will be completed the week of July 10th. All sidewalk and curb ramps at the intersections will also be completed in early July. By the end of July, all asphalt paving should be completed by the Department of Public Works.

Calumet Drive is currently being reconstructed between Main Avenue and North 26th Street. This is a joint project between the Wisconsin Department of Transportation and the City of Sheboygan. During the week of July 3rd, AT&T had its facilities relocated so that a new storm sewer system and sanitary sewer system could be constructed. After all utility work is completed, construction will begin on new sidewalk, curb/gutter and street pavement. This project will be completed in early to mid-October.
