SHEBOYGAN — Police are investigating a shooting at King Park on Sheboygan’s south side that occurred Thursday night.
Sheboygan Police were called to General King Park in the 1600 block of South 7th Street at 10:51 PM for a disturbance involving possible gun shots. Police taped off an area around King Park between Broadway Avenue and Clara Avenue for several hours.
“Responding officers located evidence that shots were fired in the area of the park,” said Captain Kurt Brasser. “There are no injuries reported and police are continuing to investigate.”
Officers were seen focusing on the east sidewalk on South 7th Street in front of the park. Police were also seen searching the grass and trees in the park. According to one resident, she heard what sounded like gun shots and people screaming. Another resident wrote on Facebook that she saw cars fleeing from the scene after the shooting.
The Sheboygan Fire Department was called in to assist officers with lighting at the crime scene. However, no apparent injuries have been reported at this time.
