SHEBOYGAN — Wednesday night, the Huskies came out shooting hot with the help of Austin Frick‘s six 3-pointers in a row to put the Wombats down 22-44.
UW-Sheboygan (8-5) then locked down on defense and outscored UW-Marathon County by a total of 67-36 the rest of the game.
“It was absolutely incredible how well Marathon shot in the first half,” said William Greenwood, Head Men’s Basketball Coach for UW-Sheboygan. “Our squad though remained resilient and buckled down on defense.” The team played with limited players including without 6’8 standout forward Alex Antonie who averaged 14 points per game, as he has a broken wrist. Nate Serketich and Evan Platz stepped up and got some key rebounds and held down the paint.
“Just when I thought our squad couldn’t surprise us more, tonight happened,” added Greenwood. “Great win.”
The Wombats were led by Sheboygan North’s Julian Jones with 25 points and Nate Serketich with 19. South’s TJ Pitsch added 23. DJ Dawson from Tinley Park, Illinois added his first double figure scoring game of the year with 11.
UW-Sheboygan is back in action this Friday at home against Concordia University JV.
