SHEBOYGAN — 1330 WHBL AM is without a news director for the second time in a year.

Raymond Neupert has left the news-talk radio station this month after only nine months on the job. Neupert replaced Areka Spencer as the news director in February 2016. In the mean time, former WHBL anchor Jon DeMaster has returned to the station. DeMaster was worked at the station from June 2010 to January 2013.

Before returning to the station this year, DeMaster served as the news anchor for Blaze Radio Network and USA Radio Networks.

In December 2015, Spencer left the role and was named the National Director of Digital and On-air News Content for Midwest Communications, the parent company of WHBL and sister stations B93.7 FM, 106.5 The Buzz and 104.5 and 96.1 The Point which are also housed in the same building as WHBL. In November 2014, Spencer replaced long-time news director Mike Kinzel as the news director at the station.

Very little local news programming is done out of the station. Besides pre-recorded hourly news updates at the top of each hour, the only show broadcasted live is Sheboygan’s Morning News with Kelly Meyer, a morning show during the week. The rest of the programming is syndicated conservative talk programs.
