$9,000 reward offered in death of Sheboygan Falls man


SHEBOYGAN FALLS — The family of a Sheboygan Falls man is offering a $9,000 reward to find the driver of a vehicle that fatally struck the man last summer.

At 4:36 AM on Sunday, July 3rd, the Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call reporting a vehicle had struck a pedestrian on County Road P just north of County Road A in the Town of Rhine. The preliminary investigation indicated that a van was southbound on County Road P when it struck 23 year old Shawn Kaufert who was lying in the roadway. The van operator remained at the scene and called law enforcement.

The family of Kaufert is offering a $9,000 reward in addition to the Crime Stoppers reward for any information that will lead to the conviction of the person responsible for Kaufert’s death.

After further investigation, it was determined that the Kaufert was already deceased when he was struck by the van.  An autopsy revealed he was previously struck and killed by a different unidentified driver and vehicle. That driver and vehicle left the scene after striking Kaufert.
